Seit 2010 hat der NHS seine Emissionen um 30% gesenkt. Im Oktober 2020 verpflichtete sich der NHS zu einer Strategie der Emissionsreduzierung mit einem Netto-Null-Ziel bis 2040 f\u00fcr Einrichtungen des Gesundheitswesens und entlang der Lieferkette, sowie bis 2045 f\u00fcr zus\u00e4tzliche Emissionen aus Patienten- und Besucheran- und -abreisen und zuhause genutzte medizinische Services. Das ist unser Grundprinzip. Aber das k\u00f6nnen wir nur, wenn wir auch auf den Klimawandel reagieren. Da ist sich die Wissenschaft einig\u00a0\u2013 seit Jahrzehnten.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/><strong>Zweitens: <\/strong>Der NHS ist ein gro\u00dfer Teil des Problems, wenn es um den britischen Aussto\u00df von Treibhausgasen geht mit 5,4% Anteil an den nationalen Emissionen, 36% Anteil an den Emissionen des \u00f6ffentlichen Sektors, 40% Anteil am Stromverbrauch des \u00f6ffentlichen Sektors. Der NHS ist gro\u00df: 1,4\u00a0Millionen Mitarbeiter, 120\u00a0Milliarden Pfund Leistungsausgaben. Doch dadurch sind wir auch ein wichtiger Teil der L\u00f6sung. Immer, wenn wir Ma\u00dfnahmen umgesetzt haben, um Emissionen zu reduzieren, hat es das Leben unserer Patienten verbessert, Kosten gespart und damit Mittel f\u00fcr eine bessere Gesundheitsversorgung freigemacht.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/><strong>Drittens:<\/strong> Es begeistert unsere Mitarbeiter. Neun von zehn Besch\u00e4ftigten des NHS wollen, dass wir mehr gegen den Klimawandel tun. In einer Umfrage haben wir unsere Mitarbeitenden k\u00fcrzlich gefragt, wie viele von ihnen in den letzten Wochen im Rahmen ihrer T\u00e4tigkeit etwas im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit umgesetzt haben. Diese Zahl hat sich allein in den letzten 18\u00a0Monaten um etwa 250.000\u00a0Mitarbeitende erh\u00f6ht\u00a0\u2026 250.000\u00a0weitere Schritte.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/>Ein Beispiel: K\u00fcrzlich haben zwei Krankenh\u00e4user um den gleichen An\u00e4sthesisten f\u00fcr eine F\u00fchrungsposition geworben. Das Gute ist: Man kann in 98% der F\u00e4lle die klimasch\u00e4dlichsten Mittel ganz einfach durch klimafreundlichere ersetzen, klinisch gleichwertig und auch noch billiger.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/>Ein anderes gro\u00dfes Feld ist unser Fuhrpark. Wir haben unsere Verkehrsemissionen erfolgreich reduziert durch einen elektrischen Fuhrpark. Diese E-Auto-Flotte ist f\u00fcr den NHS im Unterhalt g\u00fcnstiger, also machen wir das zum Standard.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/>Zum Teil entwickeln wir auch innovative Versorgungsmodelle. Wir f\u00fchren eine neue Flotte von vollelektrischen Notarzteinsatzfahrzeugen f\u00fcr die psychische Versorgung ein. Das ist ein gro\u00dfartiges Beispiel f\u00fcr eine bessere kommunale psychiatrische Versorgung, die auch noch kohlenstoffarm ist. Au\u00dferdem haben wir \u201eVirtual Wards\u201c \u2013 virtuelle Stationen \u2013 eingerichtet mit denen Patient:innen statt eines station\u00e4ren Klinikaufenthalts sicher und bequem zu Hause versorgt werden k\u00f6nnen. Au\u00dferdem haben wir ein neues Programm \u201eNHS@home\u201c, das Patient:innen die Tools, das Wissen und die Technik gibt, um ihre Gesundheit zu Hause selbst zu \u00fcberwachen und zu managen. Also binden wir die Besch\u00e4ftigten ein, wir nehmen das Thema in unsere Vertr\u00e4ge auf, in die Zulassung, wir schaffen finanzielle Anreize und integrieren es in unsere Planungen und Gesetze. Wir stellen sicher, dass es auf lokaler Ebene das notwendige Personal gibt, bieten Fortbildungen, Wettbewerbe, und schalten Medienkampagnen.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/>Trotzdem st\u00f6\u00dft man immer wieder auf Hindernisse. Die muss man annehmen und L\u00f6sungen finden, denn Chancen sind ebenfalls \u00fcberall. Ich glaube, dass wir uns im Gesundheitsbereich und beim Klimawandel manchmal selbst l\u00e4hmen, indem wir versuchen, alles auf einmal anzugehen und nur das Gr\u00f6\u00dfte zu tun. Was man aber wirklich tun muss, ist erst einmal kleine, erreichbare Ziele in Angriff zu nehmen, dann Kapazit\u00e4ten zu erweitern und so eine Dynamik aufzubauen. Das war sehr wichtig in dieser Phase.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/>Am 20. Januar 2020 hat der NHS beschlossen, ein Net-Zero-System zu werden. F\u00fcnf Tage sp\u00e4ter rief die WHO den internationalen Gesundheitsnotstand wegen COVID-19 aus. Nat\u00fcrlich haben wir \u00fcber eine Verschiebung nachgedacht. Aber den Verantwortlichen ist bewusst, dass die Klimakrise eine Gesundheitskrise ist. Der NHS ist daf\u00fcr verantwortlich, alle Gesundheitskrisen anzugehen, und wenn sich jemand gleichzeitig mit dem Klimawandel und COVID-19 befassen kann, dann ist es der NHS. Und so ist die Arbeit in den letzten zwei Jahren keineswegs ins Stocken geraten. Sie sch\u00e4tzen den besseren Zugang zur Gesundheitsversorgung, den sie durch bessere kommunale Dienste und eine digitalere Gesundheitsversorgung erhalten k\u00f6nnen. Sie sagen vielleicht nicht direkt, dass sie unsere Ma\u00dfnahmen gegen den Klimawandel gut finden. Aber sie sagen, \u201ediese Sache da, die ihr gemacht habt in der Versorgung, die finde ich gut\u201c. Die konkreten Ma\u00dfnahmen, die sowohl die Versorgung verbessern als auch den Klimawandel bek\u00e4mpfen, finden sie hervorragend.<br \/>\n<br class=\"avia-permanent-lb\" \/>Es gibt noch ein gutes Beispiel: Wir haben Anreize geschaffen, die klima , bzw. umweltsch\u00e4dlichsten Arzneimittel weniger zu verordnen. Und wir stellten fest, dass diese Umstellung Pflegefachkr\u00e4ften und Haus\u00e4rzt:innen im ganzen Land einen gute Anlass bietet, mit ihren Patient:innen \u00fcber deren Gesundheit zu sprechen. W\u00e4hrend dieses Gespr\u00e4chs diskutieren sie auch den gr\u00f6\u00dferen Zusammenhang, die Zusammenh\u00e4nge von Umwelt, Gesundheit und Medizin. Bei einer Evaluierung haben 81% der Patient:innen gesagt, dass sie sehr gut fanden, dass diese Themen mit ihnen besprochen wurden. Es braucht eine hohe Sensibilit\u00e4t, um diese Themen richtig einzuordnen. Aber wenn es jemanden gibt, dem ich zutraue diese Gespr\u00e4che zu f\u00fchren, dann ist es ein\/e Haus\u00e4rzt:in, die in der Gemeinschaft Versorgung leistet, ihre Patient:innen kennt und daf\u00fcr ausgebildet ist. In Frankreich und Schweden hat man unsere Probleme mit Inhalatoren nicht, sondern hat es geschafft das komplett zu vermeiden. Australien ist beeindruckend, wenn es darum geht, Energieeffizienz, Bel\u00fcftung und Infektionskontrolle miteinander zu verbinden. \u00dcberall auf der Welt sieht man diese Lichtblicke und Beispiele von Menschen, die versuchen etwas anders zu machen, die ausprobieren und beweisen, dass sie Recht hatten. Und in all diesen F\u00e4llen lautet meine Antwort in der Regel: Ja, man muss immer die Patient:innen im Blick haben und eine breitere \u201ePlanetary Health\u201c-Perspektive einnehmen. Und wenn du das getan hast, musst du dich auf etwas fokussieren, das direkt vor dir liegt und erreichbar ist. Nicht etwas, das du im Jahr 2040 tun kannst, sondern etwas, das du morgen fr\u00fch um 9.00 Uhr tun kannst.
